Installation Instructions

Adobe Acrobat & Acrobat Reader

Important: Adobe Acrobat does NOT use the operating system certificate store. You MUST import the certificate directly into Adobe Acrobat for document signature verification to work, even if you've already installed it in your OS.

Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader maintain their own separate list of trusted certificates. Follow these steps to import and trust the CA certificate:

1

Open Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader

Launch the application on your computer.

2

Access Preferences

  • Windows: Edit menu → Preferences
  • macOS: Acrobat menu → Preferences (or press ⌘,)
3

Navigate to Signatures

In the Preferences window, select "Signatures" from the left-hand menu.

4

Manage Trusted Certificates

Under "Identities & Trusted Certificates", click the "More..." button.

5

Import the Certificate

In the "Digital ID and Trusted Certificate Settings" window:

  • Select "Trusted Certificates" from the left-hand list
  • Click the "Import..." button
  • Browse to the downloaded ca.crt file
  • Select the file and click "Open"
6

Configure Trust Settings

After importing, locate "Document Signing CA" in the list:

  • Select the certificate
  • Click the "Edit Trust..." button
  • In the "Edit Certificate Trust" dialog, enable:
  • Use this certificate as a trusted root
  • Certified documents
  • Signed documents or data

Click "OK" to save the trust settings.

7

Finish

Click "OK" or "Close" to exit the dialogs. The certificate is now trusted in Adobe Acrobat.

Verifying Document Signatures
